Why would you like to serve on the PSC?

We have been attending Westtown for 6 years. We prayerfully considered having our PCA membership transferred but always felt there was something off, that the church was apologetically Presbyterian. Although we are sad that the church has gone through a tough season, we are confident that it is headed in the right direction and that the Lord has plans to grow the members of the congregation in their faith and wisdom and knowledge of Him. I would like to be a vessel of service for that to happen, and draw closer to the others on the Committee in the meantime.

What spiritual gifts would you be bringing to the PSC?

I believe I have the gifts of discernment and hospitality.

How have you served (or are serving) at Westtown?

I have served in the youth, particularly the middle school group and I teach Sunday School, usually to 4th-5th graders. Our family is also a part of a life group at Westtown.

How are you serving Christ’s Kingdom outside of Westtown?

I have been in an accountability / prayer group with the same 10 ladies for 22 years now. It has been one of the biggest blessings to me to walk with other women, share in their struggles, encourage and admonish each other in the Lord and just do life together. It’s hard and messy sometimes and takes a lot of effort but it is such gift from God. We share in ministry opportunities together through different ministries that we’re passionate about like the Pregnancy Center of Pinellas County, Hope for Justice, iMom and iDad and others.

Are you willing to commit your time and attention to the PSC, even if it takes a year or two?

Yes

Have you ever served on a PSC before?

No

Are you willing to travel on weekends to visit churches of the finalists?

Yes

Do you believe that the Bible is infallible as it is the inspired Word of God?

Yes

Do you admit that you are a sinner, totally dependent on the atoning work of Jesus Christ for you salvation?

Yes

Are you willing to perform the duties of the PSC to represent the interests of Westtown Church and its members according to the Presbyterian Church in America’s Book of Church Order (PCA-BCO)?

Yes

Summarize your prayer life:

As I mentioned, part of my prayer life includes praying with and for my sisters weekly. I also have a prayer partner and best friend from our church in Niceville. But, I would describe my prayer life as ongoing. I start when I wake up. I try to read the Word before heading off to work and I pray on my way to work and throughout the day, as needs arise and from my lists. Often, I will pray with my friend on my way to work, as well.

Summarize your spiritual journey in Christ:

I grew up in a Christian home, going to a PCA church. I am an example of a Covenant child. But, the Christian life is indeed a journey. When I was 13, I remember being gripped by the ugliness and despair of my own sin and the unearned redeeming grace that God had given me through Jesus. I knew Jesus had died for me but he removed the scales for me to see just what it cost Him and how DEAD I was in my sin. Then, as God would plan, I followed my friend to Covenant College where my faith and Biblical learning grew. I also was blessed by a professor who befriended me and really was Jesus to me in that time. God’s hand has been leading me my whole life!

Is there anything else that you wish to share with the congregation about your desire to serve on the PSC?

The Gospel of Grace is the Gospel of freedom for those who believe! I believe that Westtown is ready to move beyond a seeker-sensitive church plant and into a more mature, grounded church. Westtown is unique in that it has an amazing opportunity as a “community” church. Teaching strong Biblical truths and serving the community are not obsolete. The next pastor will need to wear many hats to bring about the change the church needs. I don’t pretend to know what all that entails but I am humbly willing to help the committee in finding the right guy to lead.
